Judge Michael H. Meares
948 E Lamar Alexander Parkway
Maryville, TN 37804

Judge Meares:

It was a privilege to serve jury duty in your court. You have obviously gone to great efforts to make the experience comfortable and non-threatening, which is evident in your personal approachability and the business-like and yet approachable atmosphere in your courtroom. This does not happen by accident and I commend you for making it a priority.

It has been my pleasure to serve jury duty three times previously in two different states, but this was by far the most congenial experience. In this recent situation I was excuse before the trail started which make me feel I didn't earn the check for service which came with your gracious letter. The check I will donate to the Salvation Army.

Jury duty has taught me a lot, and I have a greater respect for our system, though it still isn't perfect. In my experiences I can say that justice was served each time.

You asked for suggestions. I wish school students could sit in during one of your court sessions, possibly with instructions ahead about how thing will proceed in real life to separate this from the TV world. Perhaps they would grow up looking forward to serving instead of making it a game to get out of serving.

Sincerely,

Rebecca King
